Why was this done? To feed Mr. Obama's need to feel he is in charge? Is he not the president and already elected to the highest office of our great land? Does he feel he needs to control every aspect of our lives? President Obama is on a course of taking our country into ever deepening socialism. When does our government have the right to seize assets and tell the creditors they are not getting any money for their investment in a company? This is exactly what has happened to Chrysler. The Union which has no stake in the company has been handed much of the stock. Are they investors? Where do the investors of this company go for recourse? No where the Supreme Court has remained silent to their cause. Congress has taken off for the woods to hide. It would appear the Obama administration is racing our nation to a greater bunch of lemmings thinking all people with money are evil. No one will stand up to him. Are they afraid of being called a racist? I don't believe even he would go there. No, I didn't vote for him, yet there is a side to this man which is not about the race war, it is more along the lines of class warfare. He takes aim in open forum to take shoots at the wealthy. Anyone with his education is no dummy. Educated is some of the best schools in the land. Mr. Obama has an agenda which is leading down a dirt road filled with potholes. This road is the road to Socialism. And the sheepeople are following along as if he is the Messiah. I wonder if the sheepeople in 1917 would look back today and say maybe the class warfare in their country was worth it all? When Vladimir Lenin took over Russia by class warfare. His statement "The time was still not ripe for revolution, claimed Lenin: the workers in the city were willing, but the Bolsheviks still needed to wait for the support of the peasants." Are the "peasants" in America ready to support a leader which will redistribute all the wealth? Without the wealthy there is no business out side of the government. Is government the answer? Tell me what has our government done on time, under budget, and without great problems? Nothing; our founding fathers expected the government they put together to protect the land and help keep the states together as one organism. The General Defense of our Nation is what it was all about. Not, the seizing of private assets. Let me ask one last question, when was the last time you said, "Hey, I am going down to buy a Fiat they are such great cars!"

Parting shot: Fix It Again Tony

Grand children

Well, my Caterina is still too young to know me or my wife. I am sure she recognizes her mom and dad's voice, but beyond that at one month old not a whole lot going on. The wonder of life is just that wonder. I have been grizzly ever since this little girl has arrived in the world. I was in the waiting room while Deb was in the delivery room with Jill and James. I missed the first text message of the evening stating the babies heart beat was dropping. The one I got was "She is here" I don't think I will ever forget the moment I read this little three word text. I was in a fog at that point.
I received some new pictures today from Jill. I just stared at them. And again I got grizzly, this little girl has a good mom and dad. And this too makes me think, how blessed I am to know this grand daughter is being well taken care of. I had a dread come over me many years ago when Jill was born, a dread of responsibility. I made some flippant remark to Jill when she told me she was pregnant. Yet, several days latter I was driving to work and the same dread came over me. She is not mine directly, but I still feel a need to insure she will always be well taken care of. The beauty of being the grand parent is we are not involved with the day to day stresses of making sure there is food, a roof, and any other thing which a young child needs. Parents are far too busy taking care of the needs of a family. Grand parents can reflect and watch and just enjoy. She is still to young to be away from mom, but I am sure there will come a day when both mom and dad of this little one will get on me for sending her home wound tight!
I do not know when the next will come along but I am sure I will still be filled with the same feelings. My B has already informed us she is not up for kids. This makes me sad in some ways, however I don't want her to ever think she needs to make her mom and dad happy. What will make me happy in her life is that she finds the young man of her dreams. This is most important that all my children are happy. Nicole may some day settle down, but for now she is trying to get her sails set in the proper direction in the winds of life. I think though once she settles down she will have children. David is still too young to be in this same thought process. So to Nic, David and Becky I say I LOVE YOU. Please do not think we are solely focused on Jill and the baby. We still want to insure you are taken care of too. Same dread with them too, making sure they are always taken care of. Becky has her own place and she has a good job, so I don't have to worry about a lot anymore with her. Outside of the fact she drives TOO much.

Big bad McDonalds

Well the Clown is going after Starbucks? Why? Because he too busy selling cheap burgers to the tourist in bad shorts and herds of screaming kids and are not selling as much coffee? How silly is this? The Clown's management team is going the coffee market by putting up bill boards of " four bucks is DUMB". Well if four bucks is dumb then how about Starbucks coming back with "lets all have a Big Mac Heart attack" Will the Clown try and crush the little guy as Wally world (wal-mart) has done to local communities? And we all see Wal- mart as a corner stone of society right?

If I am going to meet someone for coffee for an after dinner meeting or just go out on the town with the wife for the evening I am not going to say "hey let's go over to the Clown's joint for a cup of brew!" I think the atmosphere at a Starbucks is far more pleasant then say the kiddy play ground at the Clown shop. A clown severing coffee just doesn't seem to be conducive to pleasant quiet atmosphere. Most of the time these severs of death have their air conditioners turned down so low you don't want to stay around. They must sell more of there fatty greasy patty's of death to more and more and MORE! So they run you out with a snow storm.

To bad Mikey D's you have really lost me as a customer of your acrid brew. I have always said your brew was good, however it is not getting my dollar anymore. Starbucks is half the size of the Clown shop. Do you dare take on someone your own size? No, it is more fun to be mean today then to be competitive.

The article I picked up from Seattle tells the rest of the story. And even it is basis to a purveyor which started within it's very own city. They could not interview someone who likes Starbucks they had to find someone who didn't like them to go along with the mean spiritedness of the Clown.

Glad the death dealing Clown feels the need to go after the little guy.
Good for you Mr. Schultz for not responding to the Clown.

Please read the link below you will see what I am talking about.

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/391566_sbuxrivals11.html

We have lost the fear

Our society and world have lost the fear of God. I was listening to the radio this morning and a pair of robbers took over a house, police arrive and one of the men shoot at the police. They killed him, rightly so policemen have a dangerous job and if someone is shooting at them, well too bad for the bad guy. The problem here is the robber did not have a fear of the after life. What will happen to me once I am on the other side of the curtain? Is there a God? Well the robber knows now the answer to both of those questions. A few weeks ago, my wife and daughter and I went to a fast food joint. Before we even began to eat we were heckled for dressing like Christians. Funny they know what we look like. We prayed over our food and then the harassment really kicked in. I must say I was not intimated at all. I felt sorry, these kids were not raised with a healthy fear of God. Having a fear of God is not bad is it? I know there is a movement a foot which does not believe in God. Do these people not have a fear of the system which is in place to protect all from wrong? I believe many people who do not believe in God do have a fear of the system which states thou shall not kill or steal or any other anti social behavior. However, there is a growing generation of people which have No Fear. This No Fear generation take their fearlessness too far.
I raised my hand and said I do,and joined the military for this nation, I set aside 4 years of my life to serve this great nation, so young people can have the right to be fearless. It is just too bad there are people with in our society which find it necessary to be rude to others. However they are free to do it. Because I set aside time out of my life so they could still be free. Try mocking a communist in China and see how far you get.
Everyone have a Merry Christmas, oh yeah even this is becoming a problem. Well I say it to everyone I meet at this time of year. Rarely do I get any blow back of PC talk. In fact many clerks and people just get a big smile on their face and say Merry Christmas to you too!

Steam Boat Willy

Well Mickey turns 80 years old today!

This little mouse has made millions of children smile. I had made mention I was looking to the Libertarian party to vote.

The Supreme Court is an issue seeing the average age of the court is 68.5 years old.( Stevens 88, Scalia 72, Kennedy 72, Ginsburg 75, Roberts 53, Sout6er 69, Thomas 60, Breyer 70, and Alito 58) Yes, I fully understand what is at stake here, however will he put in a conservative Judge? Or will he just keep leaning the same way LEFT! If I can't trust him with the nation, trusting him with the court is just not worth considering.

I fully understand what they are feeling and thinking. With Mr. Perot in the early 90's running for the pres. split the conservative vote and actually helped elect Clinton, and yes I criticized those who voted for him, however I cannot vote for this Benedict Arnold of the republican party if he insists on going down a path of leaning to the Demicommies! There are a few principles I hold near and dear to me and this guy keeps treading further from all of my core beliefs with each passing day.

If Mister McCain insists on flipping the conservatives of this nation the bird then he can send the country to hell I WON'T VOTE FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teenagers are wonderful?

As I flip through my photos I see my son. If we don't use this money we lose it, lovely thought indeed. So I make a decision which should be reserved for mental patients. He maybe I should go in to the dentist for a little torture. Isn't congress debating torture? Isn't there laws against such random acts of violence? Not in this case, I decided to have my teeth fixed and have appliances installed in my mouth. (Braces):(
I seat here this morning picking at last nights fine culinary delight from Panda Express, trying to eat and all my mouth is saying STOP IT! Yesterday was a great confidence builder, The torture chamber ghoul, oh I mean dental assistant informs me having braces installed is the best weight loss program known to man. Indeed I believe he is correct, all I have had done is let them place spacers inside my mouth and all ready I am miserable. I know of no other place we go to embrace such pains other then the dentist. We as lemmings go of to this house of pain to have our mouths torn at, poked at, pried on, and just in general tortured. Are we all nuts? Should we all see a shrink? Is there no relief from our on insanity?
I will surely regret my decision to have these chains laid across all of my teeth for the next year. I guess the up side here is, I will be about as fat as Twiggy was in the sixties.
Save yourself from yourself DON'T GO TO THE DENTIST!

Boredom and babies

Well, it is Sunday afternoon and I am bored. Arising from a quick 20 minute nap I quickly realize I am desiring something new and sweet. I grabbed the Taste of Home Cookbook the wife has in her library of cook books, did I say library? I fully mean BOOKSTORE! Someone could get lost for weeks perusing her collection of literary works of food. Indeed one day I will surely fall into the trap she has set and I will emerge from the kitchen nothing more then a rotund troll.
So I see a recipe which peaks my curiosity. A Dutch baby, I have never heard of such a wonderful treat. I embark on a tour through the internet to seek out what exactly this culinary delight could be. I see it is nothing more then a souffle type pancake. So I embark on this worthy journey with the thoughts of finding something new to tease the taste buds with.
As the process begins I quickly realize the refrigerator lacks the 1/2 and 1/2 needed so I proceed to the pantry. Where there is the evaporated milk! None, alas I find one lone can of Eagle Brand Sweetened condensed milk. I rummage through the kitchen drawers and find the ever present 'Church Key'. I quickly open the can, and discover the contents have turned to caramel. I fully open the can to discover, yes, indeed it is all solid. So I decide to taste it, yes its good. I proceed to scope out some of the coagulated contents and put it in with the eggs and flour, I add water and start the butter. Using a cast iron skillet with far too much butter for the process I pour the liquid into the skillet. Then push the pan into the oven already heated to 425 degrees and wait.
What comes out is something I have never had before. I top it with zested lemon, squeeze on some of the juice, sprinkle with powdered sugar and WOW! Debbie had a small portion, I indeed finished off the rest. Yes, once again over stuffing my face.
This is a project I will surely repeat over and over.

Mt. We ran into these fellows before we even started the hike. We were able to watch them for 5 minutes before they got board with us and moved on. This is part of the herd above Wrightwood.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeNVl-YSmI/AAAAAAAAADI/I7icfMQsiNM/s400/Mtn+baldy+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203783296560417378" />

This day was one the hotter days we had in 06. In fact summit temperatures this day were pushing 85 plus even at 10,000 feet! This hike has no water available during the hike. I recommend in the summer time no less then 100 oz. of water. The day these pictures were taken I carried 148 oz.s and had roughly 16 left over I had given some to the boys hiking with me. So I figure I drank 100.
This hike is 10 miles from the Pine Mountain side. You summit 2 other peaks before reaching Baldy. This hike is not for the faint of heart!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeQBF-YSoI/AAAAAAAAADY/1pJe8yvwWps/s400/Mtn+baldy+025.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203786242907982466" />

You are greeted with this ridge within the first mile of hiking. As you can see this is not a walk in the park. Much of the trail is little more then a 'goat path'. There are moments when one is wondering, what am I doing here?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeRGV-YSpI/AAAAAAAAADg/DkhoG6USQEM/s400/Mtn+baldy+031.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203787432613923474" />

Once past the ugly ridge known as Pine back bone. You start to enter the lodgepole forest. These trees are among my favorite to walk among. The path is better defined here yet give it time it will disappear again.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeSQ1-YSqI/AAAAAAAAADo/Now1LdJtzqU/s400/Mtn+baldy+035.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203788712514177698" />

Once atop Pine the goal is in site. Roughly 3 miles walking left yet now Blady stays in your view from this point forward. The views from this summit atop Pine are magnificent! There are rocks stacked in circles on top where hikers camp for the evening to protect themselves from the winds. It is a great place to just kick back and enjoy the view. Remember anyone can be a "trail pounder" Take your time and enjoy this hike it is not a foot race.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeT1l-YSrI/AAAAAAAAADw/4FwyRqXTuSQ/s400/Mtn+baldy+038.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203790443385998002" />

Baldy looms the whole way across Dawson peak. Dawson is not a hard part of the hike quiet and beautiful would be the words to use for Dawson. The trail on this part of the hike once again becomes a game trail.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeVqF-YSsI/AAAAAAAAAD4/9V04KkaXHxA/s400/Mtn+baldy+042.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203792444840757954" />

Yes this is the base of the beast. There is this low saddle between Dawson and Baldy which you cross in short order. This area is the quietest of the hike. Fully surrounded by these two peaks. Not far from civilization yet far enough to feel you are in a wilderness far from any city.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeWwl-YStI/AAAAAAAAAEA/QpzTuA_-9C0/s400/Mtn+baldy+045.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203793656021535442" />

Look steep? Well it is, you will be about half way up the side of this mountain and start asking yourself, what am I doing here? This part in short spurts becomes a class three scramble. For the most part though it is just STEEP!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeXu1-YSuI/AAAAAAAAAEI/Xl64R6Wi9L4/s400/Mtn+baldy+046.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203794725468392162" />

The mountain on the right is Dawson and the one on the left is Pine. You can see the ridge you come will come down off of Pine. And yes you must go back the same way. This hike is not hard one way, it is hard both ways. This is what really makes this hike strenuous. Once tired from the hike to the summit, then you must turn around and do it all over again.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeYxF-YSvI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/w7KO4ZtJJ3U/s400/Mtn+baldy+050.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203795863634725618" />

Closer getting closer!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7J6hJuixa7U/SDeZM1-YSwI/AAAAAAAAAEY/3C5RaO8QAYc/s400/Mtn+baldy+053.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203796340376095490" />

Yes! The image shows all the way to Mt. Wilson over by Pasadena.
This hike is a great hike if your are looking for a good work out. Be sure to bring lots of water. As I stated earlier 100 oz.s minimum. You may want to bring more though depending on the weather.
This hike can take upwards of 7 to 8 hours to complete. Remember there is no water on the trail you must bring it all.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thecavemandave.blogspot.com/2008/05/mt-baldy-local-so-cal.html' title='Mt. This was an Eagle project. The troop carried up the cement and water and wood to erect this memorial to Lord Powell. As you can see it sometimes fills in as a resting spot for weary souls.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thecavemandave.blogspot.com/2008/05/local-so-cal-hiking.html' title='Local So. The mountain can be busy with up to 50 people on it on a Saturday. So if you think being in the 'wilderness' is scary rest assured you won't be alone.

Never Let them see you sweat!

I was tagged, I had to state my life in six words.
So here it is in the title
Now to further expound on this topic.
When a dog senses your a afraid of it they will take it as
a weakness and attack all the more. People are no different if they know they are getting to you, then they will pick all the more. Anytime we show a weakness someone will take advantage of us. So therefore NEVER LET THEM SEE YOU SWEAT becomes a policy which must be adhered to if you don't want bully's taking advantage of you.
Another phrase I am fond of is PRESS ON REGARDLESS. This phrase I read many years ago as a young boy. It comes from "The Epic of Everest" There was a doctor who made this statement about climbing this formidable peak. In the book of Ephesians there is another phrase spoken by the apostle Paul, Vs. 14 states : "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;" Wither you believe in the Bible or not this statement has meaning to the Christian as well as anyone else. If you are not a Christian then "having your loins girt about with truth" becomes what you know is right. You ask what a
breastplate of righteousness" is to someone who is not a Christian? Their character of course. So if you are doing everything right and morally ethical then STAND! Press on regardless and go about your business.
Life is much more then a simple phrase and we all know this, however there are statements written in which we can place a part of our lives on which will get us through the tougher times.
Cheers!

Satistaics

Well it would appear I have a B in this class.
This has been a long 10 weeks.My family has had to put up with too much of my
anger, frustrations, and just stupid nonsense!
I am thankful for a good wife who with out her I would have just DROPPED this class.
Now it is onto my next class which is EBUS 400 which should be a fairly easier class then this last one.

Thanks Deb, Dave, Nicole and Jill for putting up with me.
Bekki you were spared my foolishness!
Love you all.

Glaciers growing?

Ok, Folks I have some problems here. As I check on one of my favorite websites Mt. St. Helens current conditions. As I read what is happening to one of America's more active volcanoes, I see this little ditty about a growing glacier?

"Glacier Dimensions:

Crater Glacier exceeds area of established nearby glaciers: In September 2007, the area of Crater Glacier was approximately one-fifth the area of glaciated terrain that existed on Mount St. Helens prior to the catastrophic eruption of May 18, 1980. Crater Glacier is approximately 0.33 square miles in area, which is more than twice the area of White River Glacier on the south side of Oregon’s Mount Hood. Crater Glacier is the newest glacier to form in North America. It is one of the most rapidly advancing and one of the lowest-elevation glaciers in the lower 48 states."

This data you are reading is from Non other then United States Geologic Survey (USGS)
You can find it at http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/Volcanoes/MSH/Eruption04/Monitoring/February2008/

I thought we were warming? Indeed it has been very quite on the Global Warming front this winter since I have heard it is the second coldest winter since 1966. I will have to look this fact up and get back to you to verify. So please don't believe every "GREENY WEENY" you come across when they say AL Gore is right. Let them know about America's newest glacier and that it is growing!
Thanks and Good Night

I HAVE BEEN TAGGED

TEN YEARS AGO: Working at Elementis as a diesel mechanic. We found some at lazy boy.
Couch and two recliners. Took all day for us to find it. And then, And then! We went to REI and I got a new backpack. The Ridgeline 65 made by REI. This is a quality pack, it is comfortable and roomy. It is a vast improvement from the roach I used last summer.
Though it did well it was not a comfortable pack to haul 80 plus miles with 50 pound in it..
So today was a good day for us. BAD FOR THE DOG! No more DOG on the furniture. This will take some getting used to on her part but NO MORE! And if she has too many problems with it all I guess she will be outside for the rest of her days.
And yes to all who says no way. If you want this dog it will be no skin off of my teeth to see her GONE.

It has come time

Well of things to remove from my to do list this is one starting a blog.
Surely time has come to start posting my rants, quotes, and just in general stuff.
Favorite books, Magazines and places to go.
And since one of my children have a blog it is time to catch up to her.
